Stay Ahead of AI Trends: Resources You Need

Staying Informed in a World That Updates Faster Than Your Apps

A focused man wearing a headset works on a laptop in a modern office environment, with various digital icons representing technology and information floating around him.

For years, we lived by Moore’s Law, which states that technology would double in capacity every eighteen months. Now we’re seeing AI capabilities are doubling every 7 to 9 months. Let that sink in. That means the tool you learned to use last summer might be out of date by the next coffee break.

So, how do you keep up when the technology is sprinting faster than your inbox can refresh?

I’ve pulled together a collection of resources that I use, including newsletters and podcasts.

Due to the rapid pace of AI development, AI literacy is quickly becoming a professional superpower. And like any tool, it needs sharpening. The good news? You don’t need 18 hours a day and a PhD in data science. You just need the right sources in your toolkit.

Your AI Toolkit: Stay Informed Without the Overwhelm

The goal here isn’t to overwhelm you with data; it’s to connect you to high-signal, low-noise sources that make staying current easier than trying to keep up with the latest Slack emoji trends.

🔔 Newsletters: Your Daily Pulse Check

Start your morning like a cyber pro. A hot coffee and one (or two) of these newsletters can get you up to speed in under 10 minutes. (in no particular order)

  • TLDR/AI – The first newsletter I signed up for and still a favorite – you can read the archives here before subscribing – https://tldr.tech/ai/archives
  • The Rundown – Daily bite-sized AI updates. Quick, punchy, and to the point. (https://www.therundown.ai)
  • Ben’s Bites – It’s like the Daily Show of AI newsletters — insightful, a bit cheeky, and wildly useful. (https://pro.bensbites.co)
  • 404 Media – granted it’s more about tech, they do cover a lot of AI stories and they have a podcast too! – https://www.404media.co/
  • AI Business – a collection of various AI articles on all aspects from ML to Agentic – https://aibusiness.com/
  • Allie K. Miller newsletter – A great resource for business professionals in wanting to learn more – plus her courses and videos – https://aiwithallie.beehiiv.com/
  • Superhuman AI – Want to impress your coworkers with AI hacks? This one’s your secret weapon. (https://www.superhuman.ai)
  • The Neuron – A deep dive on tools for engineers, power users, and tinkerers. More code, less fluff. (https://www.theneurondaily.com)
  • Prompt Engineering Daily – Prompt whisperers unite. This newsletter helps you level up in chatting with AIs effectively and is geared to leaders (https://www.neatprompts.com)

🎧 Podcasts: Learn On the Go (Even During Those Long Commutes)

Whether you’re walking the dog, on a road trip, or mowing the lawn, listening to experts discuss AI is one of the easiest, most passive ways to stay informed.

Make AI Literacy Part of Your Routine

Now, before you go and subscribe to everything, here’s what I’ve learned over the years about staying sharp with tech:

  1. Start small. Pick one newsletter, one podcast, and one channel and work that into your day.
  2. Set triggers. Morning coffee? Walking the dog? Lunchtime? That’s your AI update time.
  3. Filter the hype. Not every tool that goes viral is essential. But the ones that quietly change workflows or are in for the long game? Priceless. I.e., HeyGen, Google, OpenAI
  4. Share what you learn. The best way to retain knowledge? Teach it. Even just explaining it in a presentation or maybe a Slack thread helps.

Final Thought: Your Edge Is Staying Curious

An illustration of a man with a mustache holding a teacup and saucer, dressed in a blue sports jacket. The background is light blue with the text 'BE CURIOUS, NOT JUDGMENTAL' prominently displayed.

AI isn’t just going to help you do your job better; it’s going to augment your capabilities. It may try to do your job for you. And while that’s a conversation for another day, perhaps over coffee and existential dread.

The smartest people I know aren’t just using AI tools, they are thinking about what those tools mean for their teams, customers, and careers.

So grab a few of the resources above. Mix and match. Make it fun. But most of all, stay in the loop.

As innovation is doubling every 7 months, being “out of the loop” becomes a full-time job you didn’t ask for.
